The following is our tentative schedule for the 2008 calendar year. Some dates may be subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Meeting Program
February 23 - 24 Where: San Marino, California
Golden State Bonsai Federation Collection at the Huntington: Bonsai-A-Thon XII, fundraiser at the Botanical Center of the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road. Hours are 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM both days. Early bird specials, breakfast, lunch, auctions, raffles, vendors. Demonstrations by renowned artists and novice classes for children and adults all day. Numerous demon-strations featuring a cavalcade of bonsai experts. Jim Folsom’s ear-ly morning tour includes new Chinese Garden.
February 23 - 24 Where: Oakland, California
Golden State Bonsai Collection-North: 17th Annual Mammoth Fun-draiser event at the Lakeside Garden Center, 666 Bellevue Ave. Saturday (Feb. 23) Auction 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM with preview 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM. Sunday (Feb. 24) Mammoth Fundraiser 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Demonstrations and critiques by Kathy Shaner. Sale of bonsai and pre-bonsai materials, Vendors, Benefit drawings.
March 15 Where: Nipomo, California
On Saturday, March 15, the Conejo Bonsai Society will visit George Muranaka’s bonsai nursery in Nipomo. Unlike most urban bonsai nurseries, Muranaka Bonsai Nursery not only has bonsai material in nursery cans - it also has pre-bonsai material growing in the ground.

We will carpool the approximately three-hour drive to Nipomo, which is north of Santa Maria, and have lunch at a popular local eatery, Jocko's Steak House. After lunch, we’ll visit Muranaka Bonsai Nursery - then head back home.

We will meet in the parking lot of Westlake Village City Hall at 31200 Oakcrest Drive, Westlake Village. The carpool will depart promptly at 9:00 AM. If you would like to join us contact Nat Stein immediately. It is important to let Nat know you are joining us so we know when our whole group is assembled and we can leave.
March 20 Ted Matson (demonstrating the raft style.) Refreshments provided by Shig Crane and Evans Thomas.
April 17 Workshop - bring your trees. Refreshments provided by Nat Stein and Jerry Shane.
April 26 – 27 Where: San Diego, California
San Diego Bonsai Club: 43rd Annual Spring Show at the Balboa Park, Casa Del Prado Room 101. Show hours are 10:00 PM – 5:00 PM both days. Demonstrations at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM both days. Bonsai, pots, accessories, and plants for sale.

May 17 – 18 Where: Santa Barbara, California
Bonsai Club of Santa Barbara: Annual Bonsai Exhibition at the San-ta Barbara Botanic garden, 1212 Mission Canyon Road. Hours are Saturday 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Demonstrations at 1:00 PM both days. Plant sale by the Club. Na-tive plants suitable for bonsai in the Botanic Garden’s nursery. Bon-sai books and other gifts in the Garden Shop.

Enjoy Exhibits, Demonstrations, Work-shops, Vendors, Field Trips, Design Contest, Critiques, Raffles & Auctions, and Banquet.

» Visit Muranaka Bonsai Nursery

Come and join the San Diego Bonsai Club in a celebration of the ancient art of bonsai. Beautiful miniaturized trees, viewing stones and accent plants are displays of this living art. Our club members spend countless hours in training and styling the bonsai, to evoke peaceful and contemplative emotions in the viewer.
