Are you ready for summer? There will be something of a break in Southern Califor-nia bonsai shows, but then the action picks up in October. It will be here before you know it, so it’s already time to get ready.

First up: The Conejo Valley Bonsai Society’s own annual exhibition at the Gardens of the World in Thousand Oaks is scheduled for the first weekend of October (the 6th and 7th). If you can believe it, this will be our 15th annu-al show!

As you will note in our Program Calendar (page 2), our September club meeting will be our second peer critique evening. Members will bring trees they plan to exhibit in October for help fine-tuning them for our big show.

Following our show, the next major exhibition will be at the 2018 Golden State Bonsai Federation convention, which will be at the McClellan Conference Center in Sacramento from October 24th to the 28th. This will be the federation’s 41st annual convention; the theme this year is “Creativity Taking Flight.” (Please see page 8 or go to the GSBF website for program details.)
