T hank you Ryan Nichols for your talk “Back to the Roots” at our February meeting. You covered many topics that focused on how we can keep our bonsai trees healthy and alive!

The Bonsai-A-Thon was the end of February/ beginning of March at the Huntington Gardens. It was a successful weekend (even with the cool and wet weather). I would like to thank everyone for your help and participation.

For our March meeting, Ted Matson will be working on a Zelkova (aka Gray Bark Elm). It will be good to get some Zelkova insight as it is a tree we do not often see in bonsai shows.

I would like to remind everyone we will be starting our club nursery trips for 2015 with our first trip on Saturday, March 21st to Kamura Nursery in Northridge.

At our Thursday meeting we will confirm the details. Put the date on your calendar. At the nursery you will find a variety of trees, soil, and bonsai material i.e., tools, pots, etc.—so go prepared with your shopping list.
