Happy New Year and best wishes for a great bonsai 2020! We closed 2019 with a successful annual Holiday Potluck, Raffle & Auction. Thank you all for being part of it and supporting the Conejo Valley Bonsai Society. Nancy Smeets was our auctioneer for the evening, which lead to a fun and successful evening. (See photos, page 4.)
However, we have run into a snag for our February 2020 meeting. Westlake Village is using our usual room the night of our meet-ing, so we must re-schedule our work-shop. Our second meeting of the year will be the 4th Thurs-day of the month—February 27. The time remains the same usual: 7:30 PM.
Meanwhile, as program chair, Nancy Smeets is scheduling our 2020 pro-grams, including demonstrations and workshops. (See page 2 for details.)
Remember that our workshop nights are an opportunity for members to bring in their trees to work on. These meetings are a great opportunity to get input from other members; from our club advisor, Ken Fuentes; or your mentor, if you have one. If you don’t have a mentor but would like one, please let me know and we’ll connect you with one of our more experienced members for ongoing help.
Also, we are continuing our five-minute talks at the beginning of work-shops on a variety of bonsai related topics. Please let us know if there is a topic you would like to see included.
