Our own Ken Fuentes did a demonstration on his Ficus nerifolia for our July meeting. We all found it to be a very informative and fun evening—thanks Ken.

For our August meeting we will have our second annual swap meet. If you have bonsai or bonsai related items you want to sell, please bring them along. Members are invited to participate to both buy and sell.

Our Conejo Valley Bonsai Society Annual Exhibition is the first weekend of October and all members are invited to show three trees. We have scheduled two opportunities to get any help members may want in preparing trees for the show. First, this Thursday will be a workshop night. If you want assistance and would like to work on your October Exhibition show trees, please bring them in. Second, for our September bonsai meeting we have Jim Barrett doing a critique on our show trees to assist us in preparing them for our October show. So if you would like to work on them now,  please bring them in Thursday.

The Golden State Bonsai Federation Convention is coming up October 31 – November 3.
Don’t forget you can go on their website to sign up for both the convention and for the activities such as workshops. There is a lot going on this year and the location is Burbank, so be sure to have it on your calendar. (See details, page 5.) Thanks to Al Espinoza for helping with the candle pruning of the black pine at the Gardens of the World—and the removal of all the wire. Evans Thomas is a docent at the Gardens and he has been keeping Nat Stein’s elm tree trimmed. Thank you Evans. Both trees are looking good.

See you on Thursday the 15th.
