March 2007 Newsletter

lse and I have returned from our long trip and have heard about your meeting and digs etc.  I am glad you have had such a busy time.  Now it is time to talk about the March meeting.

Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. at the bank is our next meeting.  The demonstrator is one of your favorites – Denny Roche.  We hope to see all you members there – on time. 

Some of you have not paid your dues yet.  They are due.  Please bring your money next Thursday.

Saturday, March 24, 2007—field trip to Fuji Nursery.

We will meet in the Parking Lot at Commercial  Capital Bank at 9:00 a.m. and arrange car pools.  We need to discuss Thursday whether you wish to go on to Bruce Hisayasu in Altadena to buy pots.

The Bank has been sold and will be closed as of August 7.  We will lose our meeting place.  If anyone can find a new one for us, let me know.

Descanso Bonsai Society is having their 37th annual Bonsai Exhibition on Friday, June 15 through Sunday June 17, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a reception on Saturday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. The reception includes food and drink and a wonderful raffle.  It would be nice if we could have a group go to represent our club.  We can arrange for carpools.    

This month we can start fertilizing our trees.  This is a good time to repot from cans to bonsai pots and to repot existing bonsai.
